Colt - THERAPY by Brosa Colt - THERAPY by Brosa
Colt Travers from my comic THERAPY.

This is just a color test for the pages. I want to try to get the colors less anime, but not like a painting. A mix between them. Or similar.

This brings to mind Brian Fury. If you would draw the Tekken characters, that would be SO cool!

I really dig your style mate.
This charactr is really 'in between sexes' for me. I find the body position slightly femenine, but the musculature is obviouly male.......almost like a female body builder.
Does that make sense?
Or does that say more about me?

Love the style and the details though.

yeah yeah. I really like sensual bodies. I mean, I'm a man, and I like women. BUT! I think women nowadays like some femenine males, you know? maybe like... brad pitt when he was young, or Jude Law, or any kind of clothing model, you know? I try to make strong guys, but with sensualities for the girls.

Then, the other way to see this is that, I'm most used to draw girls, than mans, so, its possible that I have not really clever in my mind how to draw a real male. But I don't care too much about it.

Thanks for seeing it, I really like how you think!

Yeah yeah I know that comic, in fact, it is one of my favos!!!!! I love it, and I love cassegrain. Did you knew that in that comic, cassegrain did not the storyboard? He was painting over the storyboard of... I'm not sure who, but one of them. I have seen the making off, it is amazing.

But, about Tao Bang, I'm not sure his color is the most I like. It looks too many traditional in the first album, for my taste, and too many digital in the second album. I think I prefer stuff like digital painted but trying to emulate a little bit traditional styles, you know? but having it digital, and looking little bit digital. haha

Yes, I also thought about adding textures. I will see when I test a comic page

Thanks for the suggestions dude!

I had submited some pages before, I thought maybe you had seen it. The problem is that, the color likes to publishers, but they want something better. Is a good start, but they wants more work on the pages. And for the characters, have told me to don't do so anime style in the coloring, more render, to give it more flow and to mix it with the background. you know? I think they don't like that characters seems one thing, and backgrounds an other thing, as it happens in animation movies.

I also hope printers will not loose the vivid of the colors. I think when you are publishing a comic in france, publishers wants you to travell to printers place to check how its going, and to adjust your screen to them. to have the best result possible. But I'm not sure about this.

Hah, thanks for your support, your stuff is amazing!

yes i see them of course, iap its hard to fullfy the desires of publishers Xd i'm pretty sure u gona resolve this dilema in a smart way! it's for soleil?
np mate so far great job! dunno for publishing in france, some friends say that most bande dessiner are printed in ilaly : / if the publisher pay the trip is cool eheh!

I will be trying with every french publisher till someone accept it or everyone reject it. The idea is not to focus somewere to work for, just to be able to work doing this shit, becouse I really enjoy it. Soleil is one option, but for the moment I have heard a lot of bad things about soleil. Ankama would alsdo be a very nice option. Delcourt, Dargaud, Glenat, Vents d'Ouest, Les Humanoides associés... there is too many publishers there, I just have to be the best I can, and be very lucky (haha not easy)

Well, for me it would be a pleasure to travell to Paris to sign contracts, meet publishers, watch printers, everything. Its not expensive, so if they don't pay it, I would travel by myself. I didn't know about printing in Italy. it must be cheaper. Spain, Italy, Turkey... hum... I think this places are the most cheap places in Europe. I'm spanish. But I think here we don't have enough good printers. But I'm not sure. What I know is that in spain, most of the things sucks.

Are you brazilian, right? I think brazil is now onfire. But I'm sure poor people in brazil is not onfire. how is to live there?

i'm pretty sure u are going to have a great success mate, try to go to Angoulême too, some friends have some chance there! Yes french publisher they are a lot of theme, some time without news about the market one french territory!! art is not easy :P patience is and work best tool!
Strange i think spain whas alot comics too not printers but publishers?!
err i'm not brazilian i'm moar swiss than portugues, well at the moment i'm in portugal close to you :P
brazil dunno never been there to many snakes !

No, in spain there are not publishers. Comic in spain doesn't work so good, becouse here we don't have a comic culture. We have manga culture, so the most of the comics that are selling are manga, from japan. But european comic, there is not too many people who buy it. And american, well... maybe it is in the second place, or fighting with manga. But, it must be the 10% of the people who read comics. The other 90% dont do it.

Yeah, well, I talked to go to angouleme, but my writter said that it was not the best option to get a contract. He is french, so I belive in him. And, travelling to angouleme is not cheap. and its fucking cold hahaha. But I have to do it atleast one time in my life.

Ah, as you waere talking portugues with people, I thought you was going to be brazilian or from portugal. Yeah, we're really near, and I know almost nothing about portugal... its very embarrasing! I'm living on the other coast, in Catalunya, touching france and the mediterranean sea :)

Thanks for the complishments, and suggestions! have a nice day!

I think this is a good mix to go with. When I think of anime, I think of clean, refined, shiney, cellshading, gradients, etc. This is painterly, but it's solid, rough, and simple. Overall it is really striking and aesthetically pleasant :>

Also the arms look a bit screwy in terms of anatomy and proportion.

Hey, thanks for this definition about the colors. I have never tried to define them in words, and it can be really helpfull to have it clear in my mind! were have you been all this time!?

I have edited the arms, what do you think now? I have edited the shoulders and the skin with the muscles

Hehe, it's helpful to have solid ideas and even references of abstractions.

The arms do look better, and the way you rendered his anatomy is certainly stylistic and edgy in nature, and most importantly it fits the look. The biggest critique I have is that it looks like he doesn't have any elbows and it's very hard to discern his forearms from his upperarms!

The arms are beyond fucked up in terms on anatomy, and the perspective on the distant arm seems a bit off to me. but I really love the rendering, colour and design.

My main problem is how the different muscles don't look like they are connected or under skin, it kind of looks like an action figure where each individual model is clicked onto a frame, if that makes any sense.

looks much better, the only other thing I would change it I would maybe substitute the line under the shoulder of the distant arm with shading. then it will look great
